Commitment to Writing Group In-Person

The Commitment to Writing Group is designed for PhD and Masters students seeking group accountability and a quiet space to write. This event is modeled on the popular Friday writing group in Fairfax. Students should bring their coffee, laptop, a set of goals, and a commitment to arrive on time and stay for the entire session. The group will begin with a short conversation about goals and end with a short wrap-up on accomplishments. The remaining time is dedicated to writing. Helen McManus will coordinate the session. 

If you register for this event, you are committing to:

  • Arrive on time at 9:30am and to stay for the duration until 1:00pm
  • Turn off access to Facebook, online games, and other computer/online-based distractions during writing time
  • Minimize distractions by phone by limiting texting and phone calls to scheduled break times
  • Contribute to a supportive writing community among fellow participants

 Registration is required.
