Digital Scholarship Working Group: Jekyll Tutorial In-Person
Jekyll is a great cheap (free) alternative to bloated CMS software like Drupal and Wordpress for creating and serving uncomplicated websites (especially project sites, personal sites, etc). Once installed, Jekyll transforms text files (written and edited in markdown) into template-based static HTML sites. Jekyll sites don’t rely on a database, so they are very quick and stable. Jekyll sites can be hosted for free on Github. This workshop will introduce attendees to a kit of free software for getting started with Jekyll as well as step-by-step instructions for deploying a starter site.
Please bring your own laptop. If you do not have a laptop, please contact wmann@gmu.edu.
